Joanne Demmings Hayden was born March 22, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Willie and Bertha Demmings. She departed this life on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Arcadia Nursing Home in Dayton, Ohio.
She graduated from Nettie Lee Roth H.S. in 1972 and worked for General Motors and Wesleyan Center as a Receptionist.
On September 9, 1972, Joanne was united in marriage to Darryl Edwin Hayden Sr. To this union one son, Darryl Edwin Hayden II, was born.
Joanne confessed Christ at an early age. She was a member of Revival Center Ministries and served faithfully with the Senior Saints Ministry. She was a member of the Westside Club Inc. and had been sober for 21 years. She met and became very close to her fiancé, Johnny H. Bonner, at the Westside Club. Through this bond, she gained a bonus son, Johnny Jr., and daughter Megan Schroeder.
She loved cooking and hosting family and friends. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, loved to shop and was a very stylish dresser. She loved to dance and sing but could not carry a tune.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her son, Darryl II, bonus son, Jason Decker, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will truly be missed by her special friends, Sandra McGruder, Linda Landers, Kim Smith, LaFayette Billingsly and her sponsor, Janet Williams.
She is preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, Willie and Bertha Demmings, three sisters, Lutisha Pinson, Carolyn Edwards and Geraldine McKenna and fiancé Johnny H. Bonner.
Memorial Service 12 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Calling hour 11 am- 12 pm at which time family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in honor of Joanne Hayden to The Westside Club, Inc.
