JoAnn Johnson Obituary

JoAnn Reid Johnson was born on February 18, 1934, to James Reid and Mary Harbut in Dayton, Ohio.

She attended Dayton Public Schools and worked at Miami Valley Hospital and Rikes Department Store where she met the love of her life, Albert P. Johnson.

They married December 24, 1958, and created a family which included 5 children, Kendall Ray, Tobi Marcett, Keith Randall, Kimry Radford, and Kristopher Reid Johnson.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband Albert and 2 children, Kimry and Kristopher Johnson, her parents, James Reid and Mary Harbut and grandparents Howard and Ida Harbut and Lovett and Mamie Reid. Brothers, Jimmy Reid and Larry Reid and Sister Lois Wright.

JoAnn leaves her 2 sons Kendall and Keith Johnson, her daughter and son-in-law Tobi & Gino Jones, 2 grandchildren, Jeremy C. Jones and Charles D. Johnson and 7 great-grandchildren, Jalon C. Jones, Jermanei L. Jones, Kendall Johnson, Charles Johnson, Charleigh Johnson, Aubrielle Johnson and Kynnedi Johnson and 1 brother Gary Reid along with a host of cousins and friends.

JoAnn was a loving and caring woman, who loved to help people and make them feel special.  She loved to cheer people up with get well cards and share in their special day with birthday and anniversary cards.  If you told her the date of your birthday, she’d remember it.

She loved singing in the church choir until she couldn’t any longer and working in her church missionary groups.  During her lifetime she was a member of Mt. Pisgah, First Baptist Church of Ridgewood Heights, Zion Missionary Baptist Church, True Believers Church and last attended regularly (until she no longer could) Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church.

She also loved genealogy, organizing events (she organized several family reunions), baking birthday cakes for people, decorating, and entertaining.

She will be missed by so many people.  However, her Heavenly Father has called her home because he knew she was tired and lonely.

He said, job well done JoAnn, come home and rest.
