He retired from Monsanto Research Corporation as a chemical process technician. He co-founded the West Vetts and United Council of Corvette Clubs, and served on the executive board of the 1961 Forever Class Reunion. Education being one of his core values, he attended Wright State University and Sinclair Community College. He encouraged young people to pursue and complete educational goals.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Hollie Sistrunk; twin daughters and twin sons. He is survived by sons, Gregory S. Taylor of Atlanta, GA, Jeffrey A. (Rhonda) Hobson, James C.
