Jayne Street Obituary

On February 1, 1946, the sun rose on Jayne LaRosa (Cochran) Street and she was born to Davis Sr. and Elizabeth (Hickman) Cochran, eight of eleven children!  However, on Sunday, October 22, 2023, God called her name and she answered.

Jayne, who as affectionately called “Jane or Jane Lee”, attended Nettie Lee Roth, HS graduating in 1964.  There she was a cheerleader and volleyball player.  She loved to dance and skate!  Jayne was also creative, designing beautiful, beaded jewelry.

She was a hardworking lady!  Her career included Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and later, First National Bank of Lake Forest.

Jayne knew the Lord’s voice and she followed it for many years.  Her Christian journey took her to Christian Missionary Baptist Church.   There she served on the Missionary Board.  Jayne was in the Adult Choir, President of the Usher Board, assistant church secretary and was on the pastor’s Aide Team.

She loved the Lord with all her heart, and later united with Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Jayne served on the Pastor’s Aide Committee, Culinary Ministry and Usher Board.  She faithfully attended Bible Study and Sunday School.  Finally, Jayne found her way to Lake Couty, IL, where she continued worshiping God at Waukegan Community Church.

Jayne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Alvin Street and her adoring parents, Davis Sr., and Elizabeth.  Two brothers, Lonnie, and Robert (Spider); three sisters, Julia, Pearl, and Geri; Grandson, Daniel Keith II; 2 nieces, Billie Ann, and Lisa; nephews, Aaron, Harold, Robert, and Michael.

Janes leaves to celebrate her wonderful memories with her devoted children, Andrea (Daniel) Mayfield of IL, Paul W. Sumerlin of MI; grandsons, Damian C., Maxell, and Dejuan; granddaughter, Keisha; seven great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.

She also leaves her siblings, Nancy Mukes of TX, Shirley Sears, Alma Hawkins, Albert (Beverly) Cochran all of OH, Davis Jr. (Anita) of MI; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, godchildren, friends and a bonus daughter, Sheri Robinson, and sons.

Jayne loved you all so much!
