Janice S. Ferguson, age 74, of Dayton, Ohio, was born on February 8, 1951 to the late Mary Broyles and Amos Almon. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Janice was the beloved wife of the late David Ferguson, her partner and best friend of 50 years. As a stay-at-home mom, Janice dedicated herself fully to her family, present at every event and every milestone.
She had a gift for bringing people together- organizing family reunions, hosting unforgettable parties, and making sure no one ever left her home without a full plate. Her heart and home were open to many.
Janice was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and she found joy and purpose working alongside her sister-in-law, at her sister’s camp, Wonder Works, where they poured their time and energy creating a welcoming and safe space for children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Ferguson; daughter, Marsha Howell-Ferguson; and her sisters Carol Hill, Junette Render, Judith “Peanut” Broyles, and Carol Ferguson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Shawnetta Ferguson and Antonio Ferguson; grandchildren, Dante Black, Danielle, Nevaeh, Tony, and Tyler Ferguson; and her great-grandchildren, Amari and Armani Ferguson and Gabriella Black. As well as a host of nieces and nephews, including those she held especially close: Cory Ferguson, Daniel Hill, Willie Hill and Sharon Taylor.
