SANDERS, James Edward, was born July 1, 1931 and raised in Wetumpka, Alabama, (a small town outside of Montgomery, Alabama). When he was of age, he joined the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge, February, 1954. It was during that time he decided to relocate to Dayton, Ohio. James held various positions with employers in and outside the city. His last place of employment was Capitol Materials. He worked there for over 30 years and retired in 1998. He was a former member of House of Prayer where he was coordinator Senior Activities. He later united with Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Pastor Cunningham. He enjoyed participating in Sunday School, Morning Worship and Senior Activities hosted by the church. James will always be remembered for being a straightforward person. He was very outgoing and he enjoyed the things in life that mattered. He loved his family and would try to help someone whenever needed. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Childers; sister, Gertrude Sanders; aunts and uncles. He leaves to cherish loving memories, daughter, Rownia Watson, Akron, OH; granddaughter, Genia Watson-Brown and great-granddaughter, Taylor Watson, of Parma, OH; companion and caregiver, Ozella Jordon, Dayton, OH; special children, Martin (Debra) Lewis and Sandy Lewis, both of Dayton, OH and the Courts’ children of Dayton and Cleveland, OH; nieces, Felisha Peavy-Jackson, Montgomery, AL, Arlisha Stubmere; nephews, Johnny (Sandra) Peavy, Fred (Alisha) Merkam, all of Wetumpka, AL; a host of other relatives, dear friends and the church family of Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Mt. Enon M. B. Church, 1505 W. Third St. Visitation 9 am at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
