James J. Richey Jr.

James Jerry Richey Jr., age 63, of Dayton, Ohio passed away on Wednesday January 14th, 2026. He was born March 2nd, 1962, to James Richey Sr. and Maralene Rice.

James was known as a family man and firmly believed that his offspring were destined for greatness. He was an exceptional provider and worked tirelessly as the owner of his own Heating and Air company known as “Richey Heating and Air”. In addition to owning his own Heating and Air company, he excelled in many other industries: Electronics; Manufacturing; and Aviation. More importantly, he would always lend a helping hand to those in need at any expense to himself. James Richey was also a man who kept the memory and importance of others before him alive and reminded those around him of their significance and impact on his life and creative vision. His passion for creating music as well as the creation of various pieces of meticulously crafted custom clothing will serve as a beacon of light for those who loved him and cherish his memory. Above all things of this world, James was a man of God, and we have not suffered a loss, but have gained an angel. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Maralene Rice and James Richey Sr.

 James is survived by his wife of over 30 years Teresa Lee Richey (Canady); Daughter, Romanda Lewis; Sons, Miguel Richey, Christopher James Richey; grandchildren, Ry; Ann Monae Lewis, Christia Meeks, Romaurya Long; brothers, Thomas Rye Rice, Allen Andre Rice; Sister in law, Yolanda M Rice; brother in law, Chyene Curry, Dwight Greathouse; nephews, Kendall Burke, Makela McKinley, Tyree and Tavone Rice, Thomas Rice Jr, Dashawn Rice, Brent Curry, Dashawn Rice Sr; nieces, Makela McKinley, Amelia Dayae Rice, Samantha Marlene Rice. Mother in law, Carrie Canady; sister in laws, Frances A Canady, Jackie D Canady, Queenie Canady, Nikki Canady, Michelle Canady; special niece, Kerrie Canady ; Missy; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Funeral Service 12 pm Friday, January 23, 2026 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 12 pm. Family will receive friends 11 am- 12 pm.
