Jacqueline (Jackie) Lynette Davis Johnson was born on August 9, 1943, in Dayton, OH, to Thaddeus and Juanita Thomas Davis. She attended Dayton Public Schools and graduated from Roth High School in 1961, where she excelled academically and made lifelong friends. She was still active with a group of her high school class members from Roth who were known as ‘61 Forever. Her early years were filled with adventure, laughter, and appreciation for family traditions.
She was a 1965 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a degree in Sociology. After college, her career took off with global technology solutions companies in the field of Human Resources. She started her career at National Cash Register Corporation (NCR) in Dayton, OH, then moved to Detroit where she worked for Burroughs Corporation and Unisys. Her workload took her around the globe as a Human Resource Specialist. In 1969, Jackie met the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) Johnson, and they married on August 29, 1970.
Jackie was a dedicated member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, MI. She was active with the church leadership council, served with the Optimist International Organization as a former president and assistant governor for the State of Michigan, and assisted with the Faith, Hope and Love Auxiliary Club for youth. She was also an avid golfer and played tennis with the Metropolitan Queens of Court. Although Jackie lived in Detroit, she burned the highway to visit her Dayton, OH family as often as she could. Her Dayton family looked to her as the family matriarch and mediator. Family was everything to Jackie, and she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
On November 6, 2025 Jackie went into God’s care from this earthly life with her loving, dedicated husband, Tom, by her side. Preceding her in death were her parents Thaddues and Juanita Thomas Davis, aunts Dorothy Oldham and Anita D. Moore, cousins Johnathan Davis, Charles and Delbert Render, and Evans Moore, Jr. She is survived by special son Desmond Payne (Jennifer) of Detroit, granddaughter Shaina Breece (Cristell) and great grandchildren Kennedy, Kayden, and Kaylee, loving cousins, James Thomas (Aisha) of Dayton, Ohio, Angela McKee of New York, Steve Davis, Melvin Oldham, Tanya Taylor, Dowana Stallworth, Darcel Moore, Donnie and Donna Moore all of Dayton, special aunt Dororthy Thomas, and a host of close and loving friends.
