Irene Olivia Jean Stevens, affectionately known as “Jeanie”, of Dayton, Ohio, born September 2, 1950, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Jeanie was a graduate of Roosevelt High School “Teddies” Class of 1968. She was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for 47 years and served as a zealous pioneer for 33 years. She challenged and pushed herself daily to do and be the best she could be as well as encourage and provide guidance and support for others to do the same. Jeanie was known for her humor, her honesty, her love to roller skate, her beautiful singing voice, great cooking, the love she had for her family and her zeal for preaching God’s word.
Jeanie is preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Annie Mae Johnson---raised by her grandmother, Olivia Long and grandfather, Joe Bryson; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Shaw, Samuel "Jerome" Johnson; sisters, Carmen Johnson, Elvena "Anita" Caldwell.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Gregory Stevens; son, Darius Stevens Sr.; daughters, Della Stevens, and Greggina Madera; grandchildren, Dorian, Darius Jr., and DeAisha Stevens, Kilvio, and Kelim Madera; great-granddaughters, Tyler and Te’Aja Stevens; devoted sister, Della Shaw, along with four other sisters, Ollie Yvonne Johnson, Tammy Adkins, Dora Johnson, Annie Mae Lee; brothers, Curtis Johnson and Michael Finley; special cousin, Lamon “Boot” Mclarty; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives.
