Irene Crenshaw Obituary

Irene C. Crenshaw, 75, was called home to be with the Lord Monday May 4, 2020. Irene was born December 25, 1944 in Port Gibson, Mississippi to the late George and Beatrice Coleman. She was a long-time resident of Dayton, Ohio and a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1963. Irene was an employee of General Motors, and retired after working over 30 years. On June 3, 1967, she married Larry Crenshaw, Sr. They raised two loving children, Larry “Chuck” and Tiffany.

Irene began her walk with Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of Revelation Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was also a doting grandmother of five who loved to spoil and spend time with her grandchildren. In her free-time she enjoyed playing cards with her sisters and sister-in-law, and attending family gatherings.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Larry Sr.; brothers, Ronald and Thomas Coleman, Lorenzo and Luther Burks; sister, Laura Liggins. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Larry Crenshaw, Jr; daughter, Tiffany (Marcus) McClure; grandchildren, DaQuane Crenshaw; Kyra, Noah, Sydney and Evan McClure; sister, Beatrice Coleman; sisters-in-law, Peggy Burks, Littie Barbee, Diane Burks, Christal Coleman and Andrea Simmons; brothers-in-law, Ervin (Amanda) Simmons of Mobile, Alabama, Cornelius Simmons, Andray (Janice) Simmons, all of Miami, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Walk-through visitation 9-11 am Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Private family service.
