Ida Williams was born on March 2, 1921, in Maysville, Kentucky, to her loving parents, Bessie and Walter Humphrey. She grew up on a farm in Germantown, Kentucky, and graduated from Lincoln Institute's Boarding High School. Ida also attended Kentucky State University.
After graduating, she moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she married the love of her life, the late Howard Williams, Sr., on December 3, 1954. She joined Mt. Enon Baptist Church in the late 1940s on Bank Street and remained a dedicated member until her illness in 2016. Ida worked in the nursery and participated in the Senior Choir, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School. However, her true passion was working with the kitchen committee and making her famous Russian tea.
Ida was employed at McCall Magazine as a proofreader before moving on to work for Dayton Public Schools. There, she shared her culinary skills at Weaver, and Edison elementary schools, and Central Kitchen, where she became known as the "lunch lady." She retired after 25 years of service.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Williams, Sr.; her sister Dorothy Bobo; and her brothers Charles and William Humphrey.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Sharon R. Williams, and her son, Howard (Koli) Williams, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends
