Hortense Lee Cartwright, age 71, born December 10, 1950, the youngest of three daughters, to Howard and Elizabeth Amos, departed this earthly life March 31, 2022.
Hortense was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1969. After graduating, she married Michael Cartwright and lived happily in marriage for 52 years until her untimely passing.
Hortense was fun loving, outgoing and feisty! She loved to cook and take care of her family. She loved bingo and loved taking her mother to bingo. She could play 48 boards and still watch other people's boards and tell them when they have missed a number. And she loved sharing any money that was won! She loved karaoke, dancing and playing cards, but most of all she loved her husband, Michael! She worked for many years styling wigs for Fugi and TNT Fashions. Everyone that knew her realized there would never be a dull moment with Hortense because she was so full of life, and she lived her life to the fullest!
Hortense was preceded in death by her father, Deacon Howard Amos; grandmother, Ida Mae Dumas; granddaughter, Mekeiah Cartwright.
She leaves to cherish in her lovely memory, her husband, Michael Cartwright Sr.; son, Michael Cartwright Jr.; daughters, Tammie Cartwright and Autymn Cartwright; mother, Elizabeth Amos; sisters, Darlene Routhier and Ida Jackson. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Hortense was a beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit. She was loved by all and will be truly missed even more by all having had the pleasure of knowing her!
