Henry “Snorky” Lafayette Barwick II, born September 20,1943 in Dayton, Ohio to Henry and Dorothy Helen (Phoenix) Barwick, transitioned from this life Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in Dayton.
He attended Jackson Elementary where he was in the Little Buddies League, and graduated from Roosevelt High School (Dayton) in 1961. He was briefly employed at Kuhns Foundry and General Motors. He attended Miami Jacob College to train as a nurse assistant, and in 1977, he received his Associate Degree in Radiology Technology, and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1978 as an experienced staff technician in surgical procedures of the vertebrae, knee and shoulder, pacemaker insertions, and CAT scanning.
Henry loved music and in the early 60’s, he sang in a local 5-man doowop group called the Valero’s. As an avid electric guitar player, he was an original member and lead guitarist for the funk group “The Love Bones Show & Band” in which they traveled and opened for popular Dayton, Ohio music funk bands, such as The Ohio Players, Lakeside, Slave, and Zapp featuring Roger Troutman.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry I and Dorothy Barwick; brothers, Carleton Barwick (Veronica) and Juan Barwick (Margaret); sisters, Carmen Carter, Gayle Mohammed, and Cheryl Owens.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda (Fritz); sons, Anthony “Tony” Barwick, Scott Barwick (Angela), and Henry Barwick, III (Tracey) of Ohio; daughter, Tracy Barwick of Maryland; sister, Deborah Harding (Charles) of Maryland and brother, Darwynn Barwick of Colorado; grandsons, great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and a host of friends.
