Gwendolyn L. Louis-Flemister, born May 30, 1945, was 79 years old. A native of Dayton, OH, resided in Jacksonville, Florida the last 4 years until her passing on September 18, 2024.
Gwendolyn, affectionately known as “Gwen” or “Gwenny”, attended Roosevelt High School. Gwen was employed with First Mental Retardation, Project Impact, and managed the Hanna House. Gwen loved to volunteer. She volunteered for various organizations such as The AIDS Foundation and the NAACP.
Gwen was introduced to Christ at an early age by her parents. She was born again and worshipped at Revival Center Ministries. Gwen was an eternal caregiver and lived her life “UNAPOLOGETICALLY” her way.
Gwen is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Goddard; father, Marvin Bennett; stepfather, James Goddard; husband, Richard “Pig” Flemister; sister, Janet Pogue; and lifelong friends, Agnes Cooper and James Louis.
She is survived by her son, Derwin A. Pogue (Lavonda); daughters, Carla Y. Wilkes and Amber C. Sneed-Tillis; 5 brothers and sisters, Chantay White-Israel (Michael), Jaquata L. Mitchell, Myron Smith, Andre Pogue (Karen),and Nathan Goddard (Gwen); 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Keyona and Derek White; lifelong friends, Marzzellus Wilson, Debbie Byrd, Tina Frazier, and Lafayette Billingsley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, family, and friends.
Funeral service 11 am Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Revival Center Ministries, 3011 Oakridge Drive, Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am-11 am, at which time family will receive friends. Interment West Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
