Ezeller Lanier

Ezeller, aka Zell, (Postell) Lanier passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Hospice of Dayton. Zell, was a native of Verbena, Alabama and a resident of Dayton, Ohio for over 70 years. Zell retired from the Dayton Public Schools after over 25 years of service where she was employed as a paraprofessional. She was an expert seamstress for years, creating garments for herself, her children, and her clients. She was a devoted member of Valley Grove Missionary Baptist Church for more than 60 years.

Zell is preceded in death by her parents, Ida Mae and Richard Gill; husband, Walter Lee Lanier; brothers, Richard Lee Gill, Andrew Gill, and Tom Price; her sister, Prevella Mims and brother-in-law Jeffery Mims Sr.; sisters-in-law, Louise (Dolly) Gill, Leola Gill, and Lucille Price.

She is survived by her brother James Gill; a sister-in-law, Mary Bell Gill (Andrew Gill); children, Lela Mae Brewer (James Winston), Jean Roberts (Roosevelt), Joyce Payne, Linda Lanier, Carl Lanier (Leese), and Terri L Lanier (Kenneth Pope); grandchildren, Jerry Lanier, Tracey Lanier, James Roberts (Rita), Ericka Payne, Toriano Walker (Shawna Austin), Carl Jr. Lanier, Corwin Lanier (Jasmine), Randall Lanier (Tennille), Brian Lanier (LaQuita), and Angela Peterson (Johnny Archer Jr); numerous friends, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, best friends and cousins Betty Davis and Dorothy Deramus.

Funeral Service 11am Friday, April 10, 2026 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave, Dayton, OH. Visitation 9am-11am. Family to receive friends 10am-11am. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
