Eula Slater was born April 20, 1925, in Darlington, South Carolina, to the parentage of the late Rev. Parnell and Dora Charles Slater. She accepted Christ at an early age. Eula departed this life on Sunday May 19, 2024, at Kingston of Miamisburg.
Eula resided in Chicago, IL, where she was the owner of Eula’s Café. In 1995, she returned to Dayton. She was a member of Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church and resided in its Senior Citizen’s housing, Enon Plaza. Living close to the church and being a member in the senior choir granted her the opportunity to praise and serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Eula was a companion and did community service, supporting the elderly.
Eula is preceded in death by her parents, Parnell and Dora; sisters, Mary, Mattie, Callie, Rebecca, and Dora; brothers, Benjamin, Isaac, and William; son, Billie Joe; grandchildren, Joseph Slater and Tyra Wilson; and an infant great-granddaughter, Jaya Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Patricia Monie of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Renee, Matthew, Joseph, Haviva, Malaika, Joey, and Carmela; 13 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great grandchildren; 4 great-great-great grandchildren; a devoted and beloved niece, Denise Murphy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 11 am Friday, May 31, 2024, at Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church, 1501 W 3rd Street, Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am, at which time family will receive friends. Interment West Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
