Elizabeth Amos, a lifelong resident of Dayton, OH, was born on March 17, 1925 to the late Andrew W. and Eda Mae Dumas. She departed this life Monday, November 10, 2025 at the age of 100.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Dunbar High School Class of 1944. She was a member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church, Easter Star, and Annabelle Howard Circle. Elizabeth loved to play bingo.
Along with her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Howard L. Amos; daughter, Hortense Cartwright; brothers, Nathaniel, and John Henry Dumas; sisters, Ethel Jo Weaver, Carrie Peavy, Bernice Temple, and Dorothy Carlisle.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory daughters, Darlene Routhier and Ida D. Jackson; son-in-law, Michael Cartwright Sr.; grandsons, Steven (Leah) Muhammad, Michael Cartwright Jr., Corbet Routhier; granddaughters, Sandy (Ken) Durgans, Tammie Cartwright and Autymn Cartwright; nephew, Alonzo Peavy; nieces, Brenda Dumas, Martha McCluskey, Beverly Harrison, and Virginia Carlisle; a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life 11 am Friday, December 5, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Calling hour 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment West Memory Gardens.
