Dudley “Dud” Jones, born June 2, 1929 in Port Gibson, MS, peacefully entered eternal life Sunday March 8, 2020 with his family by his side. Dudley was the eldest of five children born to the late Ira and Agnes Jones. He relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 1963.
Dudley worked at Standard Register where he retired after 21 years of dedicated service. He frequently spoke to his family in New Orleans and Mississippi and looked forward to daily Facetime calls with his sister, nieces, grandchildren, a host of other family members, and especially with his niece, Agnes Moore-Hollins, even when it was difficult for him to find strength to hold the phone. He always made sure he had cereal and a banana or a heated honey bun and coffee for breakfast. Let’s also not forget that he could make an incredible pot of rice.
Dudley is preceded in death by his brothers, Ira Jones Jr., Leandrew Jones, Fred Jones; daughter, Bobbie Ann Adkisson; son, Dimitrious Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 57 years, Lula Mae Jones; sister, Carrie Ruth Moore; daughters, Renee Coldly, Tosha Hubbard (Terry); son, Ira Jones; grandchildren, Eric Jones (Demetrice), Marquis Adkisson, Taju Ford, Candice Coldly, Ira Jones Jr., India Jones, Devin Davis, Briston Cross, Dominique Hubbard, Danielle Hubbard; great grandchildren, Brittany Jones, Taron Jones, Breanna Jones, Makaiya Adkisson, Taja Ford, Allauna Ford, Daniyah Courts, Sherrod Jones, Mazziah Jones, Myla Hubbard; a host of other relatives and friends.
