Dorothy Jean Howard Raimey, arrived in Evergreen, Alabama on flight 02-17-43 and departed on flight 08-08-22 in Dayton, Ohio; expected destination, Heaven.
Dorothy was a faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E. Zion. She graduated from Conecuh County Training High School in Conecuh County, Alabama, obtained a BS in education from Alabama A & M University, a MA in Administration from Wright State University, and a M.Ed. from Walsh University.
A lifelong educator, she imparted lessons to them all and touched the lives of many more students during her storied forty-three (43) year teaching career in the Dayton Public Schools system which can only be described as a “Legacy.”
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nora (Will) Hines Bullock; father, Clanford (Lyra) Howard; brothers, Robert Earl, Walter “Don”, Willie “Sang,”; sisters, Mildred, and Virginia “Genie.”
To cherish her memory Dorothy leaves three children, Lyra Amelia Raimey, Harry (Kyra) Raimey, and Phillip Raimey; five grandchildren, Michaela (Dequan) Raimey White, Isaiah Raimey, Gabrielle Raimey, Noah Raimey, and Abijah Raimey, to whom all knew affectionately as “Nana”; as well as one special niece, Ella; and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 13, at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church, 4544 Laurel Drive. Family will receive friends 12:00-1:00 PM. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
