Dorothea "Reese" Miller
October 13, 1957 – June 3, 2025
With great love and gentle sorrow, we announce the passing of Dorothea Jo “Reese” Miller, who died peacefully at 12:53 p.m. on June 3, 2025, at Post Acute of Centerville in Centerville, Ohio. She was 67.
Born on October 13, 1957, Dorothea spent her life anchored by family, friendship, and a rare gift for making everyone feel at home. Her kitchen table was the heart of countless celebrations, deep conversations, and spontaneous laughter—a place where friends quickly became family, and every story mattered.
Dorothea is survived by those she cherished most: her daughter, Nita Miller (son-in-law Anthony Fagan); her two sons, Brawzel Miller and Jeffrey Miller; and her beloved grandson, Markus Hunter. She is also survived by her identical twin sister and lifelong confidante, Dorothy Lewis; her “bonus son,” nephew Charles Miller (wife Tomekia Miller); her brother, Clarence Miller; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, whose lives she touched and whose names she carried in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Brawson and Gracie Miller; her brothers, Andy Hython and Steve Hython; and her sisters, Mary Jane Thompson and Marcella Miller.
Dorothea's home was a refuge—for neighbors in need of a warm meal, a listening ear, or a few words of encouragement. She volunteered quietly, gave generously, and measured her success by the smiles she inspired. Whether cheering at her grandson’s basketball games or sharing recipes that never tasted quite right unless she made them herself, Dorothea lived a life woven through with kindness.
A private celebration of her life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, whose compassionate care eased Dorothea’s final journey.
Though our hearts are heavy, we hold fast to her legacy of grace, generosity, and unstoppable love. Her spirit lives on in every family gathering, every shared story, and every act of gentle goodness done in her name.
Celebration of Life 12 pm Monday, June 16, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton OH. Visitation 10 am– 12 pm. Family will receive friends 11 am- 12 pm.
