Dolores Roberta (Finley) Bryson, age 86, of Dayton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
Dolores was born on August 21, 1938 to John Furman and Sadie Maude Finley in Asheville, North Carolina. She was the youngest of seven sisters. Dolores graduated from Stephens-Lee High School.
She resided in Dayton, Ohio for 60 years where she had a positive impact on her family, friends, neighborhood, and the community. Supporting others was a constant in her life be it as a member of PTA, Neighborhood Block Club, being a patient listener, sharing a kind word, providing tough love, or offering a warm meal topped off by her famous pound cake.
Dolores was a beloved member of United Missionary Baptist Church where she served in many roles including as an Usher, Deaconess, Choir, and eventually retired as Church Secretary.
Dolores was proceeded in death by her parents John Furman and Sadie Maude Finley; her husband Herbert Bryson; sons, Wayne and Kevin Rochester; sisters, Lillian King, Mary Hadden, Dorothy Robinson, Pauline Worthy, Minnie Walker and Cornelia Deck.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Keith (Andrea) Bryson and Dean Bryson of Dayton, OH; stepsons, Herbert Bryson of Tacoma, WA and Ricky Bryson; stepdaughter Brenda Bryson of North Carolina; grandchildren,Tanisha Washington, Tiara Rochester, Tova ( Aaron) Reed,, Theresa Rochester, Jordan Bryson, Anthony Bryson, Dean Bryson, Gaberialle Bryson, Kennedy Bryson, Ian Bryson and Danielle Bryson, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service 11 am Saturday, May 10, 2025 at United Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Lexington Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment 9 am, Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
