Deloris Gage Obituary

Deloris Jean Gage, 91, Of Dayton, Ohio quietly and peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on Saturday February 17, 2024.

Deloris was born on May 28, 1932 to Benie Rogers and Alice Stevens Wilson. She matriculated through Cincinnati City Schools and graduated from Cincinnati Hughes High School (Big Red). She then went on to Central State University and received a degree in Education. She also furthered her education at the University of Dayton and received a master's in education.

She married her soul mate Clarence Gage Sr. of Union, South Carolina and together they had five children, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Deloris was an educator for multiple elementary schools in Dayton, Ohio. She retired from the Dayton Board of Education in June of 2005.

Deloris was a long-time member of St. Joseph Parish in Dayton, Ohio. She enjoyed shopping, reading, traveling, knitting, sewing, and making clothes. She loved spending time with family, especially preparing big Holiday meals for them. She also enjoyed and supported her favorite sporting teams (Reds and Bengals).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Rogers, Alice Stevens Wilson; stepfather, Harry Wilson; husband, Clarence Gage Sr; son, Courtney Gage.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Renee Foster Hicks (Rickie) of Dayton, Ohio, Dana Gage of Dayton, Ohio, Wray Jean Dawson (Matthew) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Milton R. Gage (Leslie Nicolle) of Grove City, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Shawn Hicks, Darius Hicks, Sierra Gage Allen (Ralphael), Anicka Mayberry, Ariel Dawson, Simonne Gage, Clarence Dawson, Milton J. Gage and Mylan Zion Gage whom she called (Baby Boy); five great grandchildren, Shawniqua Martin, Shawntell Martin, Deshawn Bailey, Riley Allen and Mason Allen; six great-great grandchildren, Skylar Martin, Amina Dillard, Asahd Dillard, Gary Dillard, Steven Earnest, and Kison Evan’s III; her precious dog who was called (Baby, Fluff/Spike) whom she loved dearly and was a companion for her; sister, Myra Wilson; and a host of other family members including uncles, aunts and cousins from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Graveside service 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at St. Joseph Cemetery & Mausoleum, 3819 W. 8th Street, Cincinnati, Ohio.  Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
