Reverend David L. Crutcher Jr., a beloved man of God was called home to “Glory” on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He was born on June 12, 1944, in Huntsville, Alabama to David L. Crutcher Sr., and Hannah Battle (Crutcher). He was affectionately known to family and friends as “Book.”
He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1964 and attended Central State University as well as Cedarville Theological Seminary. Reverend Crutcher retired from General Motors (Delco Moraine) as a supervisor and blessed them with thirty-one years of service. He was the director of Dakota Street Community Center for over ten years and inspired others through his ministering and pastoring for more than thirty-four years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents David L. Crutcher Sr., Hannah Haliburton (Melvin), and his sister Ellen Renee Sloane.
He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Valerie Hampton, Gwendolyn Hutchen, Daphne Crutcher, and Carolyn Hunter; grandchildren, Antionette Crutcher, Kenneth Lee, Ryyan Crutcher, Kevin Lee Sr., Randall Watson, Keith Lee, Kalynn Terrell, Tiffane Snowden, Anthony Snowden and Brandon Hunter (Faith); great grandchildren, Kevin Lee Jr., Chaise Cox, Kennadi Sanchez Lee, Lauren Cox, Kyndal Jaye Lee, Kimora Lee, and Tristian Lee; sisters Lois M. Hugee, and Patricia Gibson; nieces and nephews, Tamika Lewis, Heath Haliburton and Freddie Hugee III and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews who will carry on his legacy.
Reverend Crutcher was extremely blessed with lasting friendships that brought him great inspiration and strength throughout the years. He shared esteemed relationships with Pastor John Maze, Allen Huguely, and Learwinson Jackson.
As his close friend/confidant describe him. He was a man among men. He will be forever loved and missed.
Funeral service 11 am Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Freedom Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 6540 N. Main St., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
