Daniel Webster Obituary

On Thursday, September 10, 2020, Daniel "Danny" Webster, loving son, brother and father, passed away at his home at the age of 61.

A resident of Dayton, Ohio, Danny was born on January 6, 1959 to Helen D. Childs and Edward C. Webster, Sr. (natural father).

As a student of Nettie Lee Roth High School, he became lead guitarist/vocalist of the funk band known as Slave and shortly later married Darlene James of Charlotte, NC. It was from this marriage, his sons Daniel Bree and Westley were born.

Alongside his older brother Edward, Danny discovered his passion for music and at age 16, he began his very successful career with Slave, achieving recognition by his gold and platinum recordings along the way.

He is preceded in death by Edward Sr. and older brother, Edward Jr. He is survived by his mother, Helen and stepfather, Sherman E. Childs of Dayton, OH; brothers, Kirk L. Webster of Michigan City, IN and David Childs of Pittsburgh, PA; sisters, Lisa S. Webster of Columbus, OH, Rachel Childs and Theresa Wells of Dayton, OH.

A celebration of Danny's life is planned and will be announced at a future date.
