Corine Lewis Buchanan, age 103, was born on August 16, 1920, to Love Lewis and Nellie Waits in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and would often write prayers that she would give to others in passing at grocery stores, church, shopping, restaurants, and anywhere else a fortunate person would be found. She married the love of her life, George H. Buchanan, and celebrated matrimony for 51 years before he transitioned on August 30, 1992.
Corine completed her primary education up to the 3rd grade and would go on to obtain her cosmetology license from the State of Tennessee in 1941. She was a housekeeper, seamstress, cook, caregiver, foster parent, and provided respite care for more than 40 at-risk children during her life, retiring in 1983. She served as a stewardess for many years and was one of the founding members of Dixon United Methodist Church in Dayton, Ohio. She was truly a prayer warrior! We are blessed to have known one of God’s angels here on earth.
She is preceded by her husband, George H. Buchanan; brother, Ralph Lewis; sister, Lillie (Tiger) Lewis; son-in-law, Danny D. Duncan; and grandson, Andreco Williamson.
