Cora J. James

Cora Jane James, answered the call to be with the Lord December 30, 2019. She was born September 27, 1931, in Tigrett, Tennessee, the last child, to the late Robert Dewey and Hattie Louise Bowen.

Cora graduated from Central High School in 1947, Alamo, Tennessee. She moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1960. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she served for over 50 years on the Usher Board and Golden Agers. Cora worked with Vacation Bible School and was known to serve the punch at funerals. She was very active in AA. 

She spent the last two years of her life at The Laurels of Huber Heights where she was loved and known by so many of the staff and residents. 

She is preceded in death by her brother, Davis Bowen; sisters, Margaret Moore and Frances Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a very devoted daughter, Linda Crutch of Dayton; granddaughter, LaKeisha Crutch of Dayton; special niece and nephew, Janet (Roderick) Calhoun, Kevin (Jacqueline) Moore, all of Dayton; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, January 6, 2020 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 3801 Fairbanks Ave. Pastor Marcettes L. Cunningham officiating. Visitation 10 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
