Constance Louise Gipson, age 95, was born October 31, 1927, in Dayton, OH, to the late Wilbur and Irene M. Johnson. Constance was educated in the Dayton Public School System and attended Roosevelt High School. Constance worked at Delco Products, Division of General Motors Corporation, for 25 years, then retired to care for her great-grandson. Baptized at a young age at Phillips Temple Church, Constance was a lifelong faithful member.
Constance was selfless, kind, funny, witty, and very generous. Constance, affectionately known as “Mama” loved making those around her happy and caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, traveling, and watching television. Most of all, “Mama” enjoyed spending time with her loving sisters and brother.
On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, Constance Louise Gipson transitioned from this life to be in the presence of the Lord. She was preceded in death by parents; son, Steven M. Gipson; sisters, Maxine Wade, June Kay Grant, Wanda Gail Corley; brothers, Robert, Donald, and David Johnson; grandsons, Sean Gipson and Justin Gene Walker.
“Mama” leaves to cherish her precious memories and celebrate her life; a loving and devoted daughter, Cynthia Campbell; faithful, attentive, and loving granddaughters, Nicole L. (Terrence) Searcy, Tracey Frasier, Mika Walker; great-grandchildren, Nicholas J. Walker, Madyson M. Walker, McKenzie D. Searcy, Sade Lee, Justin S. Walker; great-great-granddaughter, Nylah Constance Walker; sisters, Shirley Hicks, Johnsylon Luckie, Joan Few, Aileen Jones; brother, Griffin (Marjorie) Johnson; 2 special nieces, Kim Belcastro, Peggy Brown; 3 special nephews, Griffin Johnson, Jr., Marc Belcastro, Clayton Luckie II; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service 11:00 am Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Phillips Temple CME Church, 3620 Shiloh Springs Rd. Trotwood, Ohio. Visitation 9 am- 11 am. Family will receive friends 10 am- 11 am. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
