Cheryl Lynn (Burrell) Petty, age 59, of Dayton, Ohio, born September 20, 1964, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 11, 2024. She was a longtime resident of Dayton, Ohio, former peace officer for the City of Dayton, and was a self-employed business owner, legal process server and court courier of ASAP Attorney Services, which served process for the Montgomery County Children Services and Laskey & Scharrer, and other various courts for over twenty years. She was a graduate of Wilberforce University and earned a degree in criminal justice in 2002.
Mrs. Petty was a former member of the Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio, where she served as a member of the church choir.
Mrs. Petty was survived by two sisters, Katherine (Burrell) Sizemore of Baltimore, Maryland and Becky L. Burrell of Baltimore, Maryland; five children, Cierra Simone Petty, Christian Julian Petty, Norris Petty III, Janara (Petty) Johnson, Brittney Nickerson; several grandchildren; her ex-husband and children’s father, Petty Sgt. Norris J. Petty, Jr., USAF, Retired.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Estella (Austin) Burrell, a schoolteacher for Trotwood-Madison and Dayton Public Schools; and her father, MSgt. Leroy Norman Burrell, USAF, Retired.
Homegoing Services 11 am Saturday, May 25, 2024, at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton, Ohio. Visitation 10:00 am- 11:00 am, at which time family will receive friends. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
