“Though her time with us was short, her light will shine in our hearts forever.”
With great sorrow and eternal love, we celebrate the life of Chayla Alyssa Hardaway-Bell, age 17, who passed away on June 12, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Chayla was born on January 22, 2008, in Dayton, Ohio. She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend, and a 10th-grade student at Hughes STEM High School, where she was known for her bright spirit, joyful energy, and passion for life.
Chayla loved music, singing, and dancing. She found joy in the simple things—riding her bike, painting and coloring, skating, bowling, and especially swimming, where her spirit felt most free. She brought a sense of creativity and laughter to every space she entered.
She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Erica Bell, and her father, Edward Hardaway Jr.; her sisters, Chyanne J. Phillips, ChaNya M. Jones, Aisha M. Hardaway, Ariane R. Hardaway, and brother, Edward D. Hardaway; and a host of family members and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
