Charles Augustus Davis left this earth to be with the Lord on June 29, 2024. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on November 24, 1931, the youngest son of Harry and Hunter Mae (Ogle) Davis. Charles lost his mother when he was young. His father remarried to Eunice Davis.
Charles came to Dayton as a young man after finishing college at Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in accounting. He met his life’s love, Lydia Reed, while cutting grass at his aunt’s house. They dated and were married on March 14, 1958. They attended St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. They had two sons, Christopher Lee Davis and Augustus Scott Davis. Charles and Lydia were happily married for 53 years before Lydia passed away in 2011.
Charles is preceded in his death by his parents, Harry and Hunter Mae Davis; his stepmother, Eunice Davis; his sister, Elizabeth McCoy; his brothers, Harry and John Davis; and his wife, Lydia.
Charles is survived by his sons, Christopher (Lynnita) Davis and Augustus Davis; four grandchildren, Shakira Johnson, Augustus Davis II, Vic Oneal, and Julian Jeter Davis; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Michelle Davis.
Visitation 9 am- 10:30 am Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave, Dayton, OH. Graveside service 11 am at West Memory Gardens, 6722 Hemple Rd, Moraine, OH.
