Carolyn Jean Horton “Gemma” was born November 24, 1952 to the union of the late Clyde and Elois Sanders. Gemma was educated in the Osceola, AR school system. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age.
Gemma was a woman of faith who loved her family and friends deeply. She was an active member in her church and a member of the Christ Community Choir in Saginaw, Michigan. Gemma was there for anyone that needed her and was always happy to be a care giver to both kids and adults in her community. Gemma retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company after many years of loyal service.
Gemma’s legacy is built on sharing the love and generosity of Jesus with whomever she met.
Gemma was preceded in death by Johnny Horton (Husband), Elois Richardson (Mother), Charles Richardson (Stepfather), Clyde Sanders (Father), Alberta Dyer (Sister), Will Collins (Brother), Joe Richardson (Brother) and LeRoy Collins (Brother).
Gemma leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Felicia Davis (Dayton, OH), son, Fredrick Short (Shawnee, KS); four sisters, Ruth “Punkin” (David) Fortson (St. Louis, MO), JoAnn Shelton (St. Louis, MO), Rose (Stanley) Watson (St. Louis, MO), Elaine Sanders (St. Louis, MO), Gracie (Cecil) Slaughter (Cleveland, OH); five brothers, Charlie Richardson Jr. (Cleveland, OH), Marvin Richardson (Albuquerque, NM), Stanley (Beth) Richardson (Houston, TX), Tony (Kenya) Sanders (Osceola, AR), Kenneth (Deborah) Sanders (Bolingbrook, IL); five grandchildren, Kendall Short (Kansas City, KS), Jordan Davis (Chicago, IL), Sydnie Short (Shawnee, KS), Gabby Davis (Dayton, OH) and Alexa Short (Shawnee, KS) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
