Beverly Coleman Brown, made her heavenly transition home to be with our Lord and Savior April 27, 2021.
Beverly was born May 24, 1933 in Inkster, Michigan to Floyd Coleman and Ella Mae Jones Coleman. She was the fourth of five children and always received everything her way, especially after her youngest baby brother passed away.
Beverly graduated from Inkster High School with honors in 1951. She was offered and accepted a scholarship from Michigan State University (formally College) and attended there for two years. She was a true Michigan Spartan---but called herself a Wolverine---who loved everything Michigan but disliked most things Ohio or Buckeye related.
On Sweetest Day, October 16, 1954, she married Carl Wesley Gibson, Jr. of Dayton, Ohio. This union brought about two loving and devoted children: Carl Wesley Gibson, III, and Celest Dawn. Yes, this Michigan Wolverine/Ohio Buckeye relationship was somewhat conflicting and unfortunately ended in a divorce. The two remained cordial friends.
In May of 1983, she graduated with honors from Capital University with a BA in Accounting.
On October 1, 1984 Beverly married Arthur Brown, and they remained married until his death August 25, 2001.
At an early age, Beverly dedicated her life to Jesus. In her lifetime, she was a member of: Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, Inkster, Michigan; Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ, Dayton, Ohio; Potter’s House Church of God, Columbus, Ohio, Mt. Paran Church of God, Atlanta, Georgia.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brothers, Wendell Ray Holmes, Ronald “Bob” Coleman, and Marion “Boy Baby” Coleman”, and a nephew.
Beverly leaves to cherish her memory, son, Carl W. Gibson, III; daughter, Celest (James) Dallas; sister, Mercedes Adkins; grandchildren, Nicole (Eric), Cherie (Chris), Carl IV (Chamiya), Caryn, Angela, and Natalie; great grandchildren, Ahlaya, Island, Carmelo, Mariah, Logan, Locklynn and a new baby arriving soon---in which she was excited about---a nephew, several nieces, cousins and a host of friends including Linda (Phillip) Hercenberg.
Graveside service 11 am Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave. Dr. Terence Hayes Sr., Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ.
