After a lengthy illness, Betty passed away on March 5, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willis Freeman, Sr. and Berta Woods Freeman, and her brother, Willis Freeman, Jr.
Born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia, Betty graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and later attended West Virginia State College. Throughout her life she worked for a number of organizations and took the greatest pride in her 30-year career as an office manager for McDonnell Douglas which later became part of Boeing.
Betty loved spending time with friends and family. She also loved traveling and listening to music. She never met a stranger. She expressed her love of language through reading voraciously, solving crossword puzzles, and trouncing her competition in Scrabble. Upon retirement she became a member of Northwest Church of Christ, later Bold Believers where she made new friends and happily encountered old ones. In her spare time, she volunteered for House of Bread and lent an ear, a hand and her heart to anyone who needed it.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Duane) and Jennifer; grandchildren, Jace and Kevin (Terese); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and very dear friends, especially her sisters of the heart. She will be deeply missed.
