Bernice Tellis-Hudson

Bernice Tellis-Hudson, age 87, of Dayton, Ohio; Sunrise, August 12, 1934---Sunset, September 12, 2021, receiving her wings into eternal life.

Bernice was born in Tuskegee, Alabama to the late Maida Middleton and Elijah Jones.  

Bernice later met and married Robert Lee Hudson Sr. in Savannah, Georgia, before settling in Dayton, Ohio to raise their family.

Bernice was a natural nurturer who cherished and loved her children, and grandchildren. She was introduced to Christ at an early age by her mother. She enjoyed studying the word, and listening to her gospel and blues music, humming away as she sewed on her sewing machine. Once her grandchildren arrived, she then moved onto raising grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bernice enjoyed her life by giving and caring for others. She cared for her mother and aunt during their transition into eternal life. Bernice often visited the other patients during her early years at Grafton Oak to cover them with blankets, or just checking on them.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hudson Sr.; brothers, Alfred and Robert Tellis; son, Melvin Tellis Sr.; daughters, Johnnie and Brenda Tellis.

Left to treasure her memory, children, Eula Brown, Janice, Robert Jr., Kelvin, Keith, Wanda, LeDawn, Tammie and Tiffany Hudson; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and extended family.

Walk-through visitation 9-11 am Monday, September 20, at New Vision C.O.G., 1117 Home Ave. Private family service. Pastor Otis Jones officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
