Barbara Jean Ward, age 75 was born February 17, 1948, and transition into eternal rest on April 27th, 2023. Barbara Jean was born to the late Eddie Will & Ola Mae Wilkins in Alabama. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Barbara attended Dayton Public schools system and graduated from Roth High School class of 1966.
Barbara Ward was a faithful member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist church and worked as the “Church Secretary” for over 40 years. Barbara was a choir member singing with the alto’s. A member of the “Willing Workers” committee. She enjoyed cooking, reading, watching the “Hallmark” channel, NCIS, Chicago Fire, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Barbara worked for Miami Hardware, Meijer’s, Delphi, and worked 20 years at NCR Corporation.
She was preceded in death by husband of 52 years Floyd Ward Jr. parents Eddie Will & Ola Mae Wilkins, Father, and mother-in-law Floyd & Elizabeth Ward. Granddaughter Da’Shae Ward, brother Eddie Wilkins, sisters Deborah Diane Wilkins, Rena Heath, MaryAnn Anderson, Karen Graham, brother-in-law Jerry Ward, beloved niece Sonya Wilkins and nephew James Ward.
Barbara leaves to cherish her precious memory sons Floyd (Sheila) Ward, Bobby (Angela) Ward, daughters Ronika (Roy) Dunlop, Erika (Andrew) Woodruff. Siblings Ethel Berry, Edith Daniels, Michael (Linda) Wilkins, Jacqueline (Ralph) Jenkins, Annette (James) Dean, Lynnette (Terrance) Thornhill, Edna (Levi) McKie, Beverly Wortham brother-in-law Earl Barnett, sister-in-law Lula Ward. Loving grandchildren Jaquenta & Floyd Ward, Martina (Halbert) Myles, Darnell Wilson, Zande Williams, Derrick Stark Jr, Percale Bryant, Aaron Woodruff, Royce Dunlop, Kayla Henson, Shanterra Waller. Great grandchildren, Jacari, Sirenity, Brianna, Mariah, Casen Ward. Ryhan & Aubree Myles, Da’nell, Da’Mya, DaMani, De’Ryiah Wilson, and Rowan Stark. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to Vienna Springs nursing facility, Crossroads Hospice, special caregivers Cynthia Young, Quavotta Jones.
Funeral service 12:30 pm Friday, May 5, 2023, at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton, Ohio. Visitation 9 am- 12:30 pm. Family will receive friends 11:30 am- 12:30 pm. (Mask Required). Pastor Reginald Frey officiating. Interment West Memory Gardens.
