Arthur L. Haywood Jr.

Arthur L. Haywood arrived in the presence of his Savior on Monday, November 17, 2025. He was born on October 2, 1928 in Rome Georgia to Marion (Hill) Haywood and Arthur L Haywood. Arthur is survived by his wife Catherine (Aikens) Haywood, children, family and friends.

Arthur graduated from Savannah State (College) University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Atlanta University in 1959 with a Master of Science degree in Mathematics, Moody Bible Institute in 2004 with an Associate of Biblical Studies degree and earned an advanced professional degree in Electrical Engineering at The Ohio State University in 1981.

Arthur served in the United States Army, with the rank of Corporal, during the Korean Conflict.

Arthur retired in 1988 after 35 years of service to the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as an Electrical Engineer. During his tenure at WPAFB, he received letters of commendation for his work in training fellow engineers and tutoring of high school and college students.

Arthur taught Sunday School at Mount Calvary Baptist Church for decades. He loved to study the Bible and teach what he was learning. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge of math and engineering by teaching at Sinclair Community College and tutoring dozens of struggling math students from second graders to doctoral candidates. He valued the Bible, education and sharing his knowledge to anyone in any way that he could.

Funeral service 11:30 am Monday, December 1, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 11:30 am. Family will receive friends 10:30 am- 11:30 am. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
