Anthony Pierre Scales, aka Tony or Pierre or "Sammy" or Tone, was born on December 8, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio to the union of the late Otis Jr and Anne Scales. Anthony gave his life early to Christ where he was baptized at an early age. Anthony’s younger years were spent in Dayton, Ohio where he graduated from high school, followed by attending the University of Cincinnati where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a focus of Business and Accounting. Anyone that knew him knew that he had a passion for math and tinkering with things, Anthony was a perfectionist. Shortly after, Anthony would move to Cleveland, Ohio, where he found a continued passion in welding and machine operation. He was a hard worker dedicated to excellence in everything he did. He pursued a career at Lincoln Electric, where he was a machine operator. After 30+ years he retired from Lincoln Electric. He was often awarded for his overall performance evaluation by receiving the Presidential award for having the highest scores in the company at Lincoln Electric. Anthony was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Oakwood Village, Ohio. Anthony was also an honorary member of Healing Springs Missionary Baptist Church, in Detroit, Michigan.
In 2005, Anthony would marry his soul mate Jean, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Anthony loved to be called “Anthony” by his wife, Jean. Within this union, they created a beautiful, blended family. In later years, Anthony and Jean would move to their forever home in Atlanta, Georgia where they built a home and focused on domestic and world traveling as their hobby. His favorite places to travel were Hawaii and the Bahamas.
During his retirement he was antsy to continue to serve others where he began working part-time with Delta Airlines and FedEx. Anthony continued to display hard work and dedication to excellence. Anthony had a special love for family, friends, and neighbors, in return he was loved by many. When family and friends would come to visit, Anthony looked forward to barbecuing a range of foods, but he especially liked frying turkeys.
