Anita J. Sturdivant

Anita J. Sturdivant (nee Pulley), age 61, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 8, 2022, in Brandon, Florida at Brandon Regional Hospital.

Anita was born on January 21, 1961, to the late Joseph and Myrtle Pulley in Dayton, Ohio. She was the youngest and only girl to six brothers. She graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1979, and then went on to attend Central State University. She was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church, Rachel Missionary Circle, Girl Scout Troop Leader (510) and Praise Dance Instructor. She enjoyed working with the youth.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Myrtle Pulley; brothers, Joseph Pulley, Jr., Raymond Pulley, Sr., Roy Pulley, Charles Pulley, Sr., and Phillip Pulley; sister-in-law, Shirley Pulley.

Anita leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband, George Sturdivant; brother, Michael (Ginger) Pulley; sisters-in-law, Amazon Pulley, Sonja Sturdivant, Afina Jones; brother-in-law, Gregory Jones; son, Damien (Christina) Sturdivant; daughters, Anitra Sturdivant, Ta’Mona (Matthew) Thornton, De’Shara Sturdivant; and a bonus son, Darnel (Shanequa) Bennett; grandchildren, D’Nae Webb, Da’Veya (DaWalt) Thomas, Da’Leyian Sturdivant, Matthew Thornton, Jr., Faythe Thornton, Damien Sturdivant II, Mikelle Sturdivant, Daphne Sturdivant, DeMari Turner; great-grandchild, DaWalt Thomas; special niece, Myrtle Pulley, and a bonus niece, Jessica Green; special nephews, Charles Pulley, Jr., Joshua Williams; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Walk-through visitation 9-11 am Saturday, September 17, at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Celebration of life will be held at 11 am. (Mask Required). Interment West Memory Gardens.
