Alice Marie English

Alice Marie English (Mama Alice), age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 01, 2025, at her residence. She was the eldest daughter born to the late Lester Sr. and Myrtis Wright on June 15, 1934 in Dayton, OH.

Alice retired from Miami Valley Hospital after 35 years and immediately after retirement she spent time helping her only sister and helping to raise her great grandchildren. Alice was feisty, funny and a quick-witted woman that always had a good saying to tell you how she was feeling, she loved to spend time with her family and had a soft spot for her boy grandkids, she also loved music and to cook in her earlier years. 

Along with her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her brothers, Lester Sr. (Inez), Orville, Samson Sr., and Wilbur "Bill" Wright; sister, Myrtis O. Wright; and very special grandsons, Scottie & Kylen English Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her 4 children, Wanda, Marsha, Bobby Sr. and Barbara English; 4 granddaughters, Arnetta & Jenell English, Angela (Marq) Harris and Michelle Englis; step-granddaughter, Keishawna; 3 grandsons, Bobby Jr., Robbie & Armani Peagler; step-grandson, Kevin; 14 great grandchildren, Sheldon, Darnee, Britiney, Marshell, Dachell, Angelo, Khari, Korey, Khloe, Kylen Jr., Zoie, Robbie Jr., India and Denim; 8 great-great grandchildren, Kassidy, Dernee Jr., Damaria, Lamier, Kamri, LaMya, Aurora and Demi;; nephews, Stanley, Jerry & Tracy, Lester Wright Jr. and Anthony English; a host of nieces, nephews, other special relatives; favorite cousin, Patricia "Pat" Dunson; and good friends, Nannie Drake, Maryilee Moore.

Funeral service 11 am Saturday, November 15, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Ridgewood Heights, 116 Hanover Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Pastor Rodney Cranford officiating. Interment Jeffersonview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
