Alfred Raymond Thomason, age 87, was born August 27, 1938, to Vincent Avery and Nancy Thomas Thomason in Taylors, South Carolina. He departed this life on March 2, 2026, at New Lebanon Nursing Home. He was the only son out of his parents’ 10 children. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. He was raised on a farm and spent much of his childhood helping his father with farming and carpentry work.
He learned to drive at a young age and drove school buses for the local schools. He married Dorothy Chapman in June 1964, and they were married for 55 years until Dorothy’s passing in 2019. He was an avid fisherman. Some of his favorite fishing spots included Buck Creek, Possum Creek, and Lake Erie. Alfred had a serious passion for 60s and 70s American muscle cars and owned some himself. Every home that he moved to, he was sure to start a garden. He spent most of his career as a truck driver and retired from ABF Trucking in 1996. After retirement, Alfred started a lawnmowing business. Alfred was an active member of Dixon United Methodist Church for many years and sung in the men’s choir.
