Scheherazade Joyce Elaine Brown (Benson Watson), transitioned into everlasting life November 20, 2019.
Scherrie was born in Chicago, IL to the late Juanita Benson and Homer Johnson; however, she spent the majority of her life in Dayton, OH and was raised in love by the late Fletcher and Lois Watson. She held various administrative positions working for government and county agencies; however, she truly enjoyed being an entrepreneur and founder of JALA Unlimited with her late husband.
Scherrie is preceded in death by husband, Johnnie L. Brown; brothers, Terry Benson, Nathaniel Robinson and James Thatcher; grandson, Tyrone Lauderdale Jr.; granddaughter, Scheherazade Lauderdale, and great-grandson, Marques H. Dillard, Jr.
Scherrie was a great daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and auntie as well as a phenomenal friend to many. She will be remembered as a strong, fearless, superwomen who loved to stay on the go but more importantly she loved her family dearly. She leaves to cherish her legacy, daughters, Alendre’ (Dexter Sr.) McGhee, Lisa (Jeffrey) Burney, Angela Brown, and Johnna (Demeeckus) Dorsey; sister, Linden Fuller-Moore; brothers, Darnell Trotter and Lavelle Fuller; brothers-in-law, Aaron Joseph and Todd Brown and lifelong friend, Mary Harris.
Scherrie went by many names/titles; however, her proudest titles was becoming maw maw to her grandchildren Ayanna, Felecia (Zaccheus), Tashe’Anna, Jarell Jr., Jermaine, Stephanie (Anthony), Ty’Ronae, Dexter Jr., Jazminne, Ty’Zhanequia (Nathan), and Jaylen and granny to her great-grandchildren, Amiyah, Jorel Jr., Alaiyah, Schy’ion, Zylen, Nyla, Zh’Kiar, Jaysean, Kye, Nalani, Ava, Kairo, Qhalani.
Scherrie also leaves to cherish her memories a host of family members and friends as she did not believe in strangers.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2019 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
