JONES, Jr., Rev. David Hensley, age 76, departed this life May 21, 2018. Born in Sterling, KY to David and Lillian (Botts) Jones. He graduated from Dunbar High School and was pursuing a master’s degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary. A servant of the people, he was a civil rights activist, 1st African-American Business Agent for Local 101 DPSU, union organizer, Bronco Club owner, CEO of Labor Mgmt. Training Corp. He pastored New Hope Baptist Church in Virginia. He and wife Edith then founded and pastored The Way of the Cross Gospel Ministries in Dayton, OH. Preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Walter Toler; son, David H. Jones III; brother, Rev. Douglas Toler. He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 59 years and Co-Pastor, Edith B. Jones; daughters, Sheila Jones and Rhonda (Willie) Milhouse; daughter-in-law, Lourdes Gonzalez; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Dee (Randall) Ellis, Betty Cardwell, Brenda (Harry) O’Brien; sister-in-law, Karen Sanders; family and friends, (lifelong friend) Ray Oglesby. Visitation 4-7 pm Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at The Way of the Cross Gospel Ministries, 4801 Hoover Ave. Family will receive friends 5-7 pm. Funeral service 12 noon Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the church.
