Reatha Hicks

HICKS, Reatha, 92, of Dayton, born May 16, 1925 in Bowdon, GA to the late Marshall and Florence Thurman Ross, the youngest of ten children, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017. She moved to Dayton with her husband from Carrollton, Georgia in 1946. She retired as a professional tailor having worked for a number of men’s stores in the Dayton area in addition to running an in-home alterations and custom tailoring business.

Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Frank Hicks; son, James Thomas; grandson, Michael Thomas; 9 siblings.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Patricia Hicks- (Howard) Smith of Ormond Beach, FL, Phyllis Hicks of Dayton, Cecillia Hicks of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law, Diane Moncrief Hicks; granddaughters, Janae Hicks, Renea Smith; sister-in-law, Clouise Hicks; 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Service will be held 11 am Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Corinthian Baptist Church, 700 S. James H. McGee Blvd. Rev. Dr. P.E. Henderson Jr. officiating. Visitation 9-11 am. Family will receive friends 10-11 am. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
