Raymond D. "Sarge" Redd, Jr.

Raymond D. Redd, Jr. “Sarge”, age 57, passed away September 1, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Dayton, he was a 1979 graduate of Wayne High School, served in the U.S. Army, 1979-84, and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1989. He was a talented football player for both Wayne and BGSU. He worked for DPS, Republic Services and Sunlight Village. He was a member of Omega Baptist Church. Survived by his parents, Raymond Sr. and Yolanda Redd; siblings Rhonda Redd (Deshawn) and Ronnie Redd (Melanie); children, Raymond III (Trisha), Brittany, India, Cameron and Courtney Redd; grandchildren, Rayven and Devon Redd; nephew, Robert Redd (Brandi); nieces, Reesha and Laila Redd; nieces and nephews, Brianna, Nevaeh, Brayden and Justyce Redd; aunts, Francine Shorter, Tondalay Fields; uncles, Robert Smith (Brenda), Michael White. Special thanks to his support crew, John Kaplan, Robbie Brandon, Rhonda Gullette, Kevin, Bill and Sherry Washington, Donna Gilbert, Diana Jones, Annette Madison, Gomez White & family. Also thank you to the Oak Unit Staff at Hospice of Dayton. In honor of Ray’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Private graveside service.
