TERRELL, Nelle Doris Maclin was born June 12, 1932 to the late Otto and Fannie Eanes, Sr. in Saltillo, Tennessee, the sixth of seven children. At an early age she united with the St. Mary’s Methodist Church of Saltillo, TN. She graduated from Dunbar High School in Savannah, TN, and Lane College in Jackson, TN, with a degree in Education. Upon relocating to Dayton, OH she united with the Shiloh Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. W. C. Thomas and was active in several Ministries. She was united in marriage to the late Jimmie Maclin and became the proud mother of his two daughters, Jean and Diane. She also served as a dedicated Educator with the Dayton Public School System for over 40 years, and later served on the Dayton School Board from 1998-2001. She was also instrumental in the first operation of Dayton Public Breakfast Program serving as its first Director. Nellie was a very proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the National Council of Negro Women. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jack, Otto Jr. and William “Billy Bob” Eanes; sisters, Margaret Johnson, Velma Harris Frances Watson, Ruby Harris and Doby Harris. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her step-daughters, Diane Smith and Jean Potts; aunt, Pauline Watson of Indianapolis, IN; sisters-in-law, Maxine Maclin & Josephine Taylor of Dayton, Sue Eanes of Indianapolis, IN; God daughters, Jean Redden and Carolyn Dowell-Lee; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 3801 Fairbanks Ave. Interment West Memory Gardens. Visitation 9 am until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior.
