Mr. Floyd Edgar Abney, Sr.

ABNEY, Sr., Mr. Floyd Edgar, 99, a lifelong resident of Dayton, born December 5, 1917 in Ripley, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. He spent four years in the U. S. Army from 1941-1945 and retired from the U. S. Post Office after 30 years of service. He was a member of and served at Phillips Temple Church for many years. He loved to swim, and to bowl in the Senior Bowling League. Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gertrude Abney; sisters, Lucille Taylor, Loretta Marshall. He is survived by his children, Michael (Kristie) Abney, Constance “Storme” Johnson, Terrell D. (Davika)  and Eric T. Abney, all of Dayton, Floyd E. Abney, Jr. of Fremont, CA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Home going celebration will be held 11 am Friday, August 18, 2017 at Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church, 3620 Shiloh Springs Rd. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Visitation 9-11 am. Family will receive friends 10-11 am.
