Lela Mae Jacob

Lela Mae Jacob, 92, born September 15, 1925 in Newnan, Georgia, the only girl of four children, departed this life February 19, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton.

Lela met and married her husband of 59 years, William T. Jacob of Carrollton, GA in 1940. They had one son, Eddie W. Jacob. In 1948 the family moved from Georgia to Dayton, OH. Lela gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, and an honorary Blue Star Mother. Lela retired from General Motors (Inland) after forty years of service.

Preceded in death by her mother and father, Ernest and Gertrude (Orr) Thrash; three brothers, James, John and Ernest Thrash; husband, William T. Jacob and beloved son, Eddie W. Jacob.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter-in-law, Peggy J. Jacob; granddaughters, Nichelle (Tye) Smith and Nicole Jacob; great grandchildren, Taylor and Nicholas Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service 11 am Friday, February 23, 2018 at St. Luke M. B. Church, 2262 N. Gettysburg Ave. Visitation 9-11 am. Family will receive friends 10-11 am. Interment 11 am Monday, February 26 at the Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
