Lee Jarman Obituary

Lee Jarman, born November 24, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee to Ned and Lettie Hilliard Jefferson, departed her life peacefully on December 20, 2018.

Lee was a resident of Dayton for over sixty years. Upon coming to Dayton, Lee was employed by Fred and Loretta Weber. Lee shared her nurturing positive spirit while working for the Weber Family. Lee continued to hold the upmost affection for the Weber’s three children, Ricky, Lisa and Stephanie. After her retirement from the Weber family, she embarked on her second career at the Mead Corporation where she continued to work until her official retirement from the workforce.

Mother Lee Jarman was a faithful and dedicated member of Bethel Church of God in Christ with over sixty years of service where she served under several individuals, the late Elder Offra M. Hutchinson, Pastor James R. Willis Sr. and Pastor James R. Willis Jr.  She served and held numerous positions, such as, the Sunday School Field Representative, the Mother’s Board, President of Bethel COGIC Choir, President of Bethel Usher Board and President of Pastor’s Aide under James R. Willis Sr.

Lee had a passion for cooking for family, friends and her church community. She loved traveling to COGIC convocation, shopping, and visiting her family in Memphis.

Lee is preceded in death by her husband, Filbert Jarman; four sisters, Mary Davis, Thelma Nelson of Memphis, TN, Ada Jordan, Gladine Thomaston of Dayton, OH; two brothers, Ned Jr. and Daniel Jefferson of Memphis, TN; nephew, Ellis Thomaston of Dayton, OH.

Lee will be dearly missed and her memories will be cherished by her two sisters, Annie Bertha Cox and Clara Jefferson-Lee (Gradie) of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Esso and Timothy Jefferson of Memphis, TN; devoted nieces and nephews, Diane (Glenn) Beach, Charlene Thomaston, Steven (Shirly) Thomaston, Francis Wilcox and Larry Jefferson of Dayton OH; a host of other nieces and nephews of Dayton, OH and Memphis, TN; and special devoted friends, Mother Willis, Nobrie Hodge, Peggy McDuffie and Brenda Smith.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, December 29, at Bethel C.O.G.I.C., 1120 Germantown St. Visitation 9 am at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
