Joyce Richardson

RICHARDSON, Joyce, born January 3, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee to Ruby Green and S.L. Featherston, passed December 17, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center. Joyce moved to Dayton, Ohio at an early age, this move led to her meeting the “love of her life”, Aaron Richardson, Sr. Together they raised six children. This was after she helped raised her eleven siblings. For those that never understood, this is why she stopped cooking and refused to babysit. In her words, “I’m tired”.

She had a witty sense of humor, and was never shy about speaking her opinion. She stayed stylish and smelling good at all times, loved wearing hats (you rarely caught her without one on). When her health allowed, she attended Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Valerie; ex-husband, Aaron; great grandson Aaron IV; brothers, Leonard and Steve; sister, Ruby Kaye; friend, A. B. She is survived by her children, Ronnie (Cynthia), Peggy, Aaron (Chrlene), Darryl (Tommie), Theresa; brothers, William, Harold; sisters, Joann, Mamie, Ruth Faye, Linda Jean, Becky, Evelyn; grandchildren, Mike, Derrick, Shadavia, RonRon, Carlos, Nova, Desmond, DJ, Anesha, Marlon, Aaron III, NaShonda, Sharita, Shatonda, JayRon, Antwann, Maleishia, Danelle; a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Min. Raleigh Thornton Jr. officiating. Visitation 9 am at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment West Memory Gardens.
