Joe Frank Dixon, Sr.

JOE FRANK DIXON, SR., age 86, born June 30, 1932 in Greenville, Alabama to the late Charlie Sr. and Dora Mae Dixon, departed this life Thursday, May 23, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Frank was known for his smiling face and hardy laugh. He retired from General Motors/Truck & Bus Assembly Plant after 40 years of service. Frank was a faithful member of Bible Class Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir along with his special singing group.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Margaret Dixon; six sisters and nine brothers. Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Inez; son, Joe Frank Jr.; grandchildren, Joe “Dee” Hudson, Sr. (Tantahelene) and Krystene Filmore, all of Dayton, OH; six great grandchildren; five stepchildren, Rhonda Hayes, Tonya Jackson (Henry), Tony, Ralph and Levi Long; special nieces, Claudia Hall and Josephine Watson; special nephews, Thomas Simes and Jeffrey Dixon, Sr.; special sister-in-law, Bennie Mae Dixon; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 1 pm Friday, May 31, 2019 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Visitation 10 am at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment West Memory Gardens.
